Dolce Vita is a whole-home project for a vacation home in Carmel Valley, California, and it's currently in progress. The owners bought the house planning to remodel, and they came to Paulo with a clear picture of what they wanted: Tuscan style interior design with an old world feel and plenty of texture.
The biggest challenge was the house itself. Instead of starting over, the remodel reuses the original structure and ties it into new construction, so the finishes have to make old and new read as one home. Paulo is working alongside the architect and contractors to get that transition right.
The materials do a lot of the work. Natural stone, warm wood, reclaimed wood, and stone slabs carry the Tuscan inspired interior design through every room, while layered wall finishes add the depth and patina you'd expect in an old Italian villa. Paulo is also handling furnishing selections for the whole home, choosing pieces that feel collected over time instead of bought all at once.
The goal is a Tuscan and Mediterranean interior that's relaxed enough for a vacation house and rich enough to feel like it's always been there. It's a Tuscan style home interior built for slow mornings and long dinners. Check back for finished photos as the project wraps up.
