Hog's Breath Inn has been a Carmel-by-the-Sea landmark for decades. Clint Eastwood co-founded the restaurant in the early 1970s and owned it for close to 30 years, and it's still one of the first places visitors ask about when they come to town.
After years of heavy use, the old interior was badly outdated and needed a breath of fresh air. When the owner took on a full restaurant renovation, Paulo was brought in to handle the furnishing and styling, working alongside the architect and contractors.
The goal was to bring the space up to date without losing the character that makes Hog's Breath Inn feel like Carmel. Paulo selected the furniture and styled the space so it feels fresh and comfortable, holds up to a busy restaurant, and still respects the history people come here for.
Restaurant interior design has its own demands. Furniture has to stand up to constant use, the layout has to work for staff and guests, and the room has to make a good first impression every night. This project put all of that into practice at one of the best-known restaurants on the Monterey Peninsula.
Hospitality interior design is a growing part of Paulo's practice. If you're planning a restaurant remodel or refresh, he'd love to hear about it.
